Overview

This project involved a strategic redesign of Microsoft Excel's template landing pages to improve SEO, modernize the UI, and showcase the Copilot AI assistant, resulting in significantly increased user engagement and template downloads.

Problem Statement

Microsoft Excel's template pages suffered from poor discoverability, an outdated UI, and a failure to showcase the new Copilot AI assistant. This led to user frustration, low template adoption, and a missed opportunity to demonstrate Excel's modern capabilities.

Challenge

The primary challenge was to balance the vastness of Excel's template library with the need for a simple, intuitive user experience. We had to overcome "template fatigue" and design a system that guided users to the right solution quickly, all while introducing the new concept of the Copilot AI assistant without adding complexity.

Solution

The solution was a clean, modern landing page experience with an intuitive information architecture, "quick-select" filters, and an interactive preview modal that allowed users to view templates without leaving the page. Crucially, the design strategically integrated animated mockups and clear copywriting to showcase the power of the Copilot AI.
